NOTES ON THE MEETING OF LLANGYBI COMMUNITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE VILLAGE HALL, LLANGYBI ON TUESDAY 20 NOVEMBER 2007

 

LOCAL MATTERS

1 PC Mike Thomas, the Community Police Officer attended the meeting and gave a report.

2 Councillor I Cameron reported that part of the road to Cwrt Bleddyn from Llangybi had been taped off. There was no footpath access as the bank had fallen away. Highways would be contacted  to ask what they were doing.

3 Councillor Cameron said she would like to say how good the Service of Remembrance was at St Cybi’s Church where a wreath was laid on behalf of the Council.

4  Councillor JS Davey was asked to proceed with the alternative quote for putting new posts around the notice board in Llangybi.

5  Councillor J Love & JS Davey had a site inspection of a footpath off Ton Road, on which a barbed wire fence has been erected thus stopping access.There had been a number of complaints from members of the public. The Footpath Officer would be contacted.

6 It was requested that another letter should be sent to the Tree Prevention Officer regarding the tree that had been taken down on the site of the old school in Llangybi.

7  Concerns were expressed regarding the condition of the piece of amenity designated land adjacent to the eastern side of the play area in Llangybi. It was agreed that a letter should be sent to the MCC Environmental Dept about the Council’s concerns.

8 There were bulbs to be planted in Llangybi, Coed-y-Paen and Llandegfedd. Supplies had been allocated to the latter two wards.

9 Following the displaying of a Notice in Llangybi , no constituents have asked for the election of a new Councillor for Llangybi. The Council would now be able to co opt a new Councillor.

10 Councillor A Wilkinson reported that MCC had completed the initial maintenance work at Coed-y-Paen and an invoice had been received.

11 Confirmation of acceptance of carrying out work by the Cleaner, Safer Mon Initiative was received

PROJECTS

Three trees have been planted alongside the new footpath at the play area in Llangybi and an oak tree in the centre of the Council’s plot where bulbs will also be planted. There have been many positive compliments from residents on the footpath and it was rewarding to see a number of children using the goal unit in the evenings. It is planned to put seats and litter bins in various areas as well as purchasing some for the other wards.

Councillor J Davey had planted bulbs and willows at Llangybi Well.

PLANNING

DC/2007/01256  HM Prison, Prescoed, Cilwrgi Farm, Coed-y-Paen – erect new bull pen with external serving pen

Recommended APPROVAL

DC/2007/01370  Land at Llanddewi Court, Croesyceiliog – Erection of agricultural barn for storage of hay and straw & new hardcore track.

Recommended REFUSAL

DC/2007/01400  Ton-y-Bedw Farm, Coed-y-Paen – Change of use fro 50% Residential & 50% B&B to 50% Residential & 50% Nursery/Childcare.

Recommended APPROVAL

DC/2007/01367 Pen y Lan Woods, Coed-y-Paen – New Forestry shed for secure storage & maintenance of equipment & tools – work space for producing hewn poles from coppiced trees

No Decision was made as further information is required on the status of the woods.
